Photography has intrigued me for as long as I can remember. My father
was my first inspiration, always experimenting with the latest photographic technology and bringing home interesting
images from his travels. When he was trying out new equipment, I would always find a way to get in on
the act. In our old home movies from my childhood, I often appear in the first 20 to 30 seconds of the film and
then disappear... because I always ended up behind the camera instead of in front of it.
The natural beauty in the world has always inspired awe in me. Longing to share what I've seen with the people in my
life, I've dragged them out on long drives or hikes. But, for some reason, most people haven't been
as enchanted as I was. I began to realize that my way of seeing the world is different, and photography became my
way of sharing my vision.
As a purist, I don't use filters or gimmicks in my work nor do I digitally alter my images. My attraction to
mastering the mechanical and technical aspects of photography, combined with my aesthetic goals and broad range
of subject matter, result in a continual expansion of my repertoire and a rich body of work.
I live in Northern California with my partner and two cats. I travel as much as possible and always have a camera handy.
